11AM: CAFFEINE HIT
Check out, then head out to one of the
many local caffeination stations. Take
your pick over the weekend from Campos,
Toby’s Estate, Luxe or Melbourne cult
coffee export Dukes for a top-quality brew.

12PM: RETAIL THERAPY
Stroll through David Jones’ first boutique
concept store, specially curated for
the weekday Barangaroo population. The
dual-level store features mostly luxury
make-up, fashion and accessories, and
features a deluxe private shopping suite
staffed by stylists. There’s plenty to stroll
around and see outdoors too, as the
precinct often houses installation artwork.

12.30PM: SWEET TREATS
Need a gift for the babysitter or an
indulgent souvenir of your weekend? Stop
in at Oh! Boo Chocolates, which creates
artisanal hand-painted pralines using
chocolate sourced from Bolivia and Peru.
Maître chocolatier Fanny Chan trained in
Belgium and spends 14 hours a day creating
the chocolates from scratch out the back.

1PM: LAZY LUNCH
About half of the 79 retail offerings in
Barangaroo are food and beverage, ranging
from small laneway eateries to the hatted
dining mentioned prior. Some of our
favourites for lunch are Wild Sage, serving
Australian fare with a twist; organic vegan
eatery, Verd; Turkish restaurant Anason;
and sustainable fish and chippie love.fish.

3PM: LAST INDULGENCE
Who needs dessert when you have
Rivareno Gelato within a stone’s throw?
Its traditional artisan gelato is made daily
in store by staff trained at the Carpigiani
Gelato University in Bologna (who knew
that was even a thing, right?). We suggest
trying the pink grapefruit granita. Enjoy
while you wander back to The West’s
concierge desk for your bags, then bid
adieu to Barangaroo—until next time.

Nick Broomfield’s documentary Words of Love, inspired by the
passionate 1960s affair of lyrical genius Leonard Cohen and his Norwegian
muse Marianne Ihlen (above) on the idyllic Greek Island of Hydra, is
mesmerising. While the couple’s affair was relatively short-lived, it went
on to inspire some of the most poetic love songs of our generation. The
throwback resort fashion and A-list holiday locale are swoonworthy, too.
