Go for use with external drives. It

certainly ticks all his boxes, but the

cost of an upgrade (£119) is

prohibitive and we don’t

recommend purchasing a cheaper

licence from a third party.

Luckily, there’s a similar – and

completely free – solution in the

form of VeraCrypt (www.veracrypt.

fr/en), which we covered in depth

last issue. It’s simple to set up

– after installation, the Volume

Creation wizard will open. Select

Encrypt a non-system partition/

drive, and work through the wizard,

choosing Standard volume

followed by your USB hard drive.

Select Encrypt partition in place at

the next step, and your drive’s

existing data will be encrypted
