BIOGRAFIA
Ihr Nachname spielt auf das Reisen an. Ihre
deutschen Vorfahren haben im letzten Jahrhundert
die große Auswanderungsbewegung nach Amerika
mitgemacht. Unter denjenigen, die im Norden lebten,
amerikanisierte der Gründer einer Flugzeugfabrik den
Familiennamen und änderte seine Schreibweise. Im
Süden rodeten sie das Land und pflegten die Traditionen.
Unter den verschiedenen Orten, an denen sie sich
in Brasilien niederließen, war die kleine Stadt Vidal
Ramos im Landesinneren von Santa Catarina die
Heimat ihrer Großeltern. Von dort aus suchten sie nach
weiteren Möglichkeiten und nahmen einige Sachen
und viele Kinder mit in die Stadt Brusque. Die Reise
fand auf lehmigem Boden statt, zu Fuß.
Dort wurde das schüchterne Mädchen geboren,
das ein Freund der Bücher wurde. Sie liebte es
zu studieren und reiste gerne, um die Zukunft zu
erkunden. Sie schloss ihr Pharmaziestudium an der
Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) ab
und trat ihre erste Reise mit Gepäck und Sehnsucht
an. Nach ihrem Abschluss zog sie auf der Suche nach
Perspektiven in eine andere Stadt in Santa Catarina
und von dort in ein anderes Land.
In den Vereinigten Staaten, wo sie bis heute lebt,
schloss sie ihren Master in öffentliche Gesundheit an
der Emory University ab und ist Doktorandin im selben
Bereich an der Johns Hopkins University. Sie arbeitet in
der pharmazeutischen Industrie mit Projekten in den
Bereichen Pharmakoökonomie und Gesundheitsfolgen.
Sie begibt sich oft auf Abenteuertouren rund um die
Welt. Ihre Koffer sind immer bereit für neue Ziele und

German ancestors made the great migration movement
to American lands in the last century. Among those who
lived in the north, the founder of an airplane factory
americanized the family name, changing its spelling. In
the South, they cleared land, cultivated traditions.
Among the many places they settled in Brazil, the
small town of Vidal Ramos, in the interior of Santa
Catarina, was home to their grandparents. From there,
they sought more opportunities, taking a few things
and many children to the city of Brusque. The journey
was on clay soil, by foot.
The shy girl who became a friend of books was born
there. She liked to study and traveled in possibilities
of the future. She graduated in Pharmacy at the
Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) and,
because of this, made her first journey with luggage and
longing. After graduating, in search of new perspectives,
she moved to another city in Santa Catarina and, from
there, to another country.
In the United States, where she still lives, she
completed her master’s in Public Health at Emory
University and is a doctoral candidate in the same
area at Johns Hopkins University. She works in
the pharmaceutical industry with projects in
pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes.
She frequently embarks on adventures around the
world. She is always packing her bags for new destinations
