BIOGRAFIA
Zwischen dem Mut des Kletterns und der
Gelassenheit des Handwerks widmet sie ihre Lektüre
und ihre Einstellung zur öffentlichen Politik Themen
wie den Studenten mit Migrationshintergrund und der
Verringerung der atomaren Bedrohung. Sie ist auch in
Organisationen aktiv, die die Beteiligung von Frauen
an MINT-Berufen (Mathematik, Naturwissenschaft,
Ingenieurwesen und Technologie) fördern.
Sie wurde in der Stadt Registro (SP) geboren
und lebt in New York (USA), wo sie an der Columbia
University ihren Doktor in Physik macht. An der gleichen
Einrichtung erwarb sie einen Master-Abschluss und an
der Yale University schloss sie ihr Studium in Physik ab.
Sie vertrat Brasilien zweimal beim International
Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT), einem
wissenschaftlichen Wettbewerb für Oberschüler,
der im Volksmund als “Physik-Weltmeisterschaft”
bezeichnet wird.
In einer nicht allzu weit zurückliegenden
Jugend, die von Harry-Potter-Erzählungen und
Gitarrenakkorden geprägt war, wurde eine
Leidenschaft für die Olympischen Spiele geweckt.
Bei den Wettbewerben gab es mehrere Medaillen,
darunter Gold bei der brasilianischen Olympiade der
Astronomie und Astronautik (OBA) und Bronze beim
IYPT in Deutschland. Aber über die Ergebnisse hinaus
war das olympische Umfeld ein Ansporn und eine
Inspiration. Derzeit forscht sie im Bereich Astrophysik/
Astronomische Instrumente.Between the bravery of climbing and the
calmness of handicrafts, she dedicates her readings
and attitudes related to public policies to causes
such as immigrant students and the reduction of
nuclear threats. She is also active in organizations that
encourage women’s participation in STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers.
She was born in the city of Registro (SP) and lives in
New York (USA), where she is pursuing her PhD in Physics
at Columbia University. She earned her master’s degree
from Columbia University and her undergraduate degree
from Yale University, both in Physics.
She represented Brazil twice at the International
Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT), which is a
scientific competition for high school students,
popularly known as the “Physics World Cup”.
A not-too-distant adolescence, wrapped up in
Harry Potter narratives and chords on the guitar,
spawned a passion for the Olympics. The competitions
yielded several medals, such as gold in the Olimpíada
Brasileira de Astronomia e Astronáutica (“Brazilian
Olympics of Astronomy and Astronautics”, OBA)
and bronze in the IYPT, in Germany. But beyond the
results, the Olympic environment was a stimulus and
inspiration. Currently her research is in Astrophysics/
Astronomical Instrumentation.81
