homes a sense of place with locally sourced items, including the
oil painting 360 Café, created by Naples artist Paul Arsenault, that
hangs above a bar cart in the kitchen.
Another oil by Arsenault, View from the Pier, is displayed in the
dining room. In an interesting variation on seating, Hoover used
two love seats and four chairs to create an intimate conversation
area around the square table. Also noteworthy is the whimsical orb
chandelier—a metal cage filled with sea glass–colored balls. “When
the light is on and it goes through the glass, it is a fabulous effect,”
the designer says.
Hoover’s neutral palette of beiges and grays is enhanced by pops
of blue and white in select rooms. In the den, for instance, she has
introduced a navy sofa and chair with white piping, a blue tartan
ottoman used as a coffee table, and blue paisley curtains. The look
is very traditional and suggestive of island living. Similarly, in a guest
bedroom, Hoover has combined bamboo furniture with blue and
white bedding and draperies, creating a warm, Colonial look. The
dresser is from the clients’ former home and the decorative objects
were sourced during a trip to Africa.
The coconut-stained furniture in the master bedroom was cus-

coastal vibe but has just enough formality to feel elevated. Hoover
accomplished this with elegant fabrics, unusual accessories such
as intricate paper art, and a splash of cool, oceanic color. “I used a
classic toile fabric with aqua so the look isn’t too beachy and is a
little different,” she says. A jute rug and coral-like lamp bases add
to the relaxed but upscale feel and imbue the space with a sense
of tranquility.
The master bath is equally calming yet elegant. Hoover is a big
fan of wallpaper in bathrooms, as is evident in this space, as well as
in the guest bathroom and powder room. “It brings in a little pattern
