BURSTING AT THE SHELVES, HOOKS, AND HANGERS? IT MAY BE TIME
TO SHOW YOUR CLOSET SOME LOVE AND REWORK STORAGE AND
ORGANIZATION WITH THESE HANDY GIRL TIPS.
If the floors have been refinished
several times, they might be at
the end of their lives and need
replacement, not refinishing. Also, if
more than one-third of the flooring is
severely damaged—chipped, stained,
or otherwise in bad shape—it might
be better to replace it all.
If you decide your floors are worth saving
and you’re up for tackling the task yourself,
great! You can rent all sorts of equipment and
find plenty of help online. Whatever you do,
remember you can’t be on the floors until
they’re done drying—and that might be at
least a week or two depending on your finish
choice. Factor that into your project timeline.
Give your fl oor a lift.
Add a second layer
of shoe shelving.
Where’s your dead space?
Maximize an odd empty area
by installing a few hooks
for slender items like belts.
Go high—on top of
existing built-ins,
for example.
