Purr-fect birthday
As soon as I received the Margaret Sherr y card kit with
issue 263, I just knew I had to stitch it for my cousin’s
birthday. I hope you like the result!

I’ve had a busy week, but still made this
elf for my friend. It’s a tree decoration – or
pincushion – made with a cream aida
band. It looks a bit like a Christmas ravioli!
I expect you’ve had armies of these elves
from issue 262 skipping across your
screen. The holly that I stitched on the
back came from the same edition. I’d like
to make more of these elves and elvettes
as they’re so jolly and versatile.

My American grandparents celebrated their 70 th
wedding anniversar y recently. I was desperate to
finish this sampler and post it to them! Thankfully,
I got it to them just in time. It’s a Lucie Heaton design
that I won through a competition. My grandparents
loved it. Hopefully I’ll get to see them again soon!

Rockin’ robin
Here is my first-ever stitch – it’s of a robin and it
took me two days to do. It measures only 3 in and
is displayed in a wood-effect hoop. I really loved
doing this and I have done a same-sized one of
an orangutan. I’m now stitching a teddy coming
out of a gift box. This one’s taken me a few days
already and I’m still not even halfway through it!

I’m so pleased with this Christmassy geocache
card that Lucie Heaton designed for me –
I spotted in issue 263 that someone else
had stitched it, too. I was able to purchase
a matching mug, as shown in the picture. It’ll
make a lovely present for a student friend of
mine who has found over 100 geocaches this
year. Thank you for an excellent magazine –
I look forward to reading it each month. I gave
the card to my friend yesterday and he was
absolutely thrilled with it. He’ll have to wait
until Christmas to discover the matching mug!
