Amphetamine keeps
your Mac from going
to sleep, and it comes
with a host of options. You can
tell it to stay awake until you turn
it off, for a certain number of
minutes, or until a certain time.
You can also set triggers, such
as only staying awake if a
specific app is running or
you’ve connected a USB drive.

Want to keep your
MacBook Pro’s
desktop clean and
Dock-free? Pock shifts the Dock
to your Touch Bar, letting you
launch your apps or empty the
trash with a quick tap while
keeping your desktop as
minimalistic as possible. You can
also place menu bar and now
playing info on the Touch Bar.

Replying to
messages on your
Apple Watch is
tedious at the best of times, but
not with Shift Keyboard. This app
gives you a full keyboard, with
autocomplete and emoji support,
to make messaging from your
wrist a breeze. It even has two
layouts to choose from to suit
your tapping needs.

While macOS lets
you snap your app
windows to the edges
of your screen, it’s pretty limited.
Magnet gives you far more
control, with extra placements
(such as centred windows) and
keyboard shortcuts to activate
your chosen window layout.
There’s also a menu bar icon
for quick access.

GrandPerspective
is perfect if you’re
running low on legroom
on your Mac and need to know
which files and folders are
gobbling up your free space.
The app scans your drives and
maps them out, with larger
blocks signifying larger files.
It’s perfect for pinpointing space
hogs so you can clear them out.

TinkerTool provides
access to extra
customisation
options for a range of macOS
system tools, from Safari, Finder
and Launchpad to the Dock and
advanced appearance settings. It
only affects the current user and
doesn’t change vital system
settings, so there’s no risk of
doing any serious damage.

Malicious apps can
attempt to connect
your Mac to trackers,
phishing servers and other
nastiness. Little Snitch puts a
stop to that, telling you when
an app is trying to connect to a
suspicious source and letting you
block it. There are bulk blocklists,
real-time traffic diagrams, server
maps and more to keep you safe.

Tired of your menu
bar getting cluttered
up with icons? Vanilla
hides the excess behind an
expandable arrow, making
things much cleaner. There’s
also a pro version that adds
keyboard shortcuts, works with
Dark Mode, can automatically
start when you load macOS, plus
a load of other handy features.
