NIGHTHAWK FOR TWITTER
Creates a more focused Twitter experience
Lots of customization options and tweet filters
Can’t follow accounts or manage followers yet
One account only
SOLID
If you use Twitter a lot,
chances are you often feel
overwhelmed by the
experience. Its native app
lvqġw#yhu|#jrrg#dw#Ľowhulqj#rxw#wkh#
ľxļ/#lqvwhdg#suhihuulqj#wr#wkurz#
anything and everything at you all at
once. That means you could end up
Ľqglqj#|rxu#ehvw#iulhqgġv#zhgglqj#
photos pushed down your timeline
by tweets from that burger company
you followed three years ago just to
get free vouchers. It’s hardly ideal.
Nighthawk exists to make Twitter
a bit more bearable and, well, human.
There’s a tab at the bottom of the app
for “Close Friends”. Pick a handful
of your best buds and this tab will be
populated with their tweets and
nothing else, letting you focus on the
people who matter to you, with all of

Vshdnlqj#ri#Ľowhuv/#Qljkwkdzn#
comes with several options to cut
down on unwelcome
content. Whether that’s
movie spoilers, foreign
politics or customer care
queries, Nighthawk does an
admirable job of cleaning up
your timeline. You can even
ban retweets to let you see
original content only.
That said, the app has its
limitations, some of which
are quite jarring. There’s
no way to search for Twitter
accounts, meaning you can’t
follow anyone who you
didn’t already follow when
|rx#Ľuvw#ordghg#wkh#dss/#ru#
even view their tweets. You
also can’t switch accounts
rq#wkh#ľ|/#pdnlqj#wkh#dss#yhu|#
restrictive if you manage more than
one Twitter page.
And while you can send new
tweets (and have the app check
them for typos and “spicy” content
that you might regret posting),
you can’t add images, videos or
other content to your tweets — it’s

developer says these features are
coming soon, the app in its current
state is sorely missing them; it’s
another limitation that impacts
Nighthawk’s usefulness.
These restrictions mean it isn’t
ready to replace the native Twitter
app or third–party rivals like
Tweetbot. Instead, it’s forced to act
as an extra app you use if you want
a bit more peace and quiet while
browsing Twitter. That’s admirable,
but requiring users to switch
between Nighthawk and other
Twitter apps depending on what
features they want is a tough sell.
THE BOTTOM LINE. Great at

some key features. ALEX BLAKE
A few filters will turn your timeline into
a “Smart Feed”.
