life almost around that same time, when I was
in high school. I heard that there was going
to be a photographer who would take our
class picture, and he had this funny camera
with a panning lens. If you ran around real
fast, you could be in the picture twice. So,
sure enough, he came and I thought, hey,
it was true – they did that. You could run
around and beat it [the speed of the lens].
Then I kind of forgot about the camera, and
when I got married, the photographer Mark
Hanauer came and shot our wedding, and he
had a Widelux. I saw those prints and I was
just knocked out. It seemed like it was a
kind of a cross between a movie camera
and a still camera; it captured time in a
wonderful way. So I kind of got hooked.
Then, a little later on, as a wedding gift,
my wife Sue gave me a Widelux, and that’s
primarily the camera I’ve used ever since –
and we’ve been married for over 42 years now.

Had your interest in photography taken
a complete back seat before seeing
that Widelux in use at your wedding?
Well, when my acting career took off,
photography took a back seat for several
years. I got back into it seriously in 1976
