Narrative: The Soviets seized the British Trawler Etruria on May 1, 1950, in the
White Sea. Negotiation occurred via an exchange of letters, a fine was paid, and the
craft was released on May 12, 1950. The Soviets then seized the Swanella on Septem-
ber 26 in the same area. The vessel was released on October 2 after British protest.
