Israeli air force plane near the ceasefire line in the Golan Heights. Syria apologized
for the violation of the ceasefire and said that the attack was carried out by a junior
area commander and did not reflect Syrian policy. On November 19, Israel downed
two Syrian MiGs. Tensions remained throughout the year and also 1986, but there
were no militarized incidents involving both Syrian and Israeli forces during that time.
