Adverbs formed from adjectives ending in -ский have the ending -ски:
реалисти�ческий ‘realistic’ – реалисти�чески ‘realistically’. Such
adverbs form their comparative with бо�лее: бо�лее реалисти�чески
‘more realistically’.Than
‘Than’ is translated either by the word чем or by putting the object of
comparison in the genitive:
Мы живём в бо�лее краси�вой кварти�ре, чем Пи�тер
‘We live in a more beautiful flat than Peter’.

‘Television is more interesting than theatre’.Usually the genitive is used rather than чем after a short compara-
tive. Чем should be used:
(a) after a comparative with бо�лее(b) if the second half of the comparison is not a noun or pronoun:
До�ма лу�чше, чем здесь
‘At home is better than here’.
(c) if the objects compared are not in the nominative case:
Я бо�льше интересу�юсь тeа�тром, чем телеви�дением
‘I am more interested in theatre than television’.(d) if the object of the comparison is ‘his’, ‘hers’, ‘its’, ‘theirs’:
На�шa кварти�рa красиве�e, чем его�
‘Our flat is more beautiful than his’.Much
‘Much’ with a comparative is translated by гора�здо or намно�го:
Те а�тр гора�здо/намно�го интере�снее телеви�дения
‘Theatre is much more interesting than television’.
