Stress

Nouns

In many Russian nouns, the stress remains on the same syllable
throughout the declension. These include nouns ending in unstressed
-a or -я and the majority of nouns with three or more syllables, e.g.
книга, куxня, коридoр. In some Russian nouns, however, the stress
moves. The following are common stress patterns with examples of the
nouns which follow them:

(a) Masculine nouns where the stress moves to the ending when one
is present:

Nom Acc Gen Dat Inst Prep
Singular гриб гриб гриба грибу грибом грибе
Plural грибы грибы грибов грибам грибами грибаx

Other examples: багаж, врач, дождь, карандаш, кремль, отец,
словарь, рубль, стол, четверг, этаж.

(b) Neuter nouns stressed on the stem in the singular and the ending
in the plural:

Nom Acc Gen Dat Inst Prep
Singular дело дело дела делу делом деле

Plural дела дела дел делам дeлами делах

Other examples: лето, место, море, поле, право, cлово.

Some masculine nouns also follow this pattern:
Nom Acc Gen Dat Inst Prep
Singular шкаф шкаф шкафa шкафу шкафом шкафе
Plural шкафы шкафы шкафов шкафам шкафами шкафаx
