Since that first Brownie and a lifetime shooting with big film and digital cameras, I’ve spent 2023
photographing only with an iPhone 14 Pro Max. It’s been a joy, and these images reflect my year with
this camera.
I relate with Laurie Simmons, an artist and photographer who states: “I don’t consider myself a pho-
tographer. I am an artist who uses a camera.” While I am a photographer and still enjoy the technical
aspects, I recognize that my inner artist has been struggling to come through, and now using the
photographic image as RAW material to create my art.
In these images, I captured the subjects with my iPhone, then processed with traditional computer
tools, mostly Lightroom Classic. I worked each to bring out what I perceive is the soul of the image. All
