We sped further down the pass into the San Joaquin Valley and the
famous Tule fog. In the process, we had left the desert and
encountered green meadows, farmlands, and vineyards. Bakersfield
had a good campsite and friendly campers.
Ernest needed a bike shop and stayed one more day. During the day,
we met workers doing demolition work in the area. They invited us to
supper, and it became a pleasant evening. Afterwards, we retreated
to our tents sporting two brand-new California Wrecking caps and
with a Miley Cyrus song on our minds.
