Hotel Elguea and spa – Varadero - 110 km
Although it rained throughout the night, the next morning the
weather had cleared. Even though the route was flooded, a tailwind
made the ride enjoyable. Varadero, a touristy beach town located on
a narrow peninsula along Cuba’s north coast, was littered with hotels
and casa particulars.
Unfortunately, the weather never cleared enough to enjoy Varadero’s
famous 20-kilometre-long beach. So, instead, I went in search of
food, and when I returned, it started raining again, causing me to
rush back before getting completely drenched. Varadero was just 140
kilometres from Havana, and I was hoping for better weather the
next day.
