Arugam Bay – Batticaloa - 115 km
The following day turned out to be another long, blistering hot day,
and I was relieved to crawl into Batticaloa. A basic room provided a
bed where the fan seemed of little help. A walk across the bridge to
the centre of Batticaloa revealed plenty of food as well as an ATM -
precisely what I needed. The next day was spent on the beach and
investigating the Old Dutch Fort and other historical places. Finally,
with the weather scorching, I retreated to my (not-so-cool) digs.
