NOTICE OF PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING
To: The residents and property owners of the Charter Township of Bedford,
Calhoun County, Michigan and any other interested persons.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Planning Commission of the Charter Township
of Bedford will hold a public hearing and meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 commencing at
6:00 p.m. at the Bedford Township Hall, 115 S. Uldriks Drive, Battle Creek, MI 49037, within the
Township, to consider the following:
1) A public hearing regarding amendments to Bedford Charter Township’s “Solar
Energy Systems Ordinance No. 07/13/23/40” to amend Article IV, sub-paragraph
(D)(12)(d) to require fire suppression systems at solar farms that utilize battery
storage facilities; an amendment to Article IV sub-paragraph (D)(8)(a) to revise
setbacks regarding inverters and battery storage facilities; to amend Article IV,
sub-paragraph (D)(10) to replace the existing sub-paragraph with new limitations
regarding noise generated from Solar Farms measured at the property line of any
adjacent property which contains an occupied dwelling; and to provide for a repeal,
severability; and, and an effective date. The Planning Commission reserves the
right to make additional revisions to the Solar Energy Systems Ordinance as needed
at the public hearing.
2) Such other and further matters as shall lawfully come before the planning
commission.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that anyone interested in reviewing the
proposed ordinance noticed herein may request to examine a copy of the same by contacting the
Bedford Township Clerk at the address, email address or telephone number provided below. The
Township Zoning Ordinance and map is also posted on the Township’s website at https://www.
bedfordchartertwpmi.gov/. The planning commission reserves the right to make changes to the
proposed ordinance at the meeting and prior to making a recommendation to the Township Board.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that written comments will be received at the office
of the Township Clerk, Joyce Feraco, 115 S. Uldriks Drive, Battle Creek, MI 49037, within the
Township at any time during regular business hours of regular business days until 4:00 p.m. on the
date of said hearing, and will further be received by the Planning Commission at the time of said
hearing. Comments may also be emailed to the township clerk at [email protected].
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Township will provide necessary,
reasonable auxiliary aids and services at the hearing to individuals with disabilities upon five (5)
days’ notice to the Bedford Township Clerk of the need for the same. Individuals with disabilities
requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the Township Clerk by writing or by calling the
Clerk at the Township Hall.
All persons are invited to be present at the aforesaid time and place to participate in
discussion on the above.

The unseeded Burns lost her first
match last Friday and was eliminated
from further finals play with the set-
back – falling 6-3, 6-2 to No. 8 seed
Sienna Ilitch of Bloomfield Hills
Cranbrook Kingswood.
Meanwhile, Helbing made a solid
run toward a state title at No. 1
singles, advancing to the semifinal
round before being ousted.
In the first round, the unseeded
Helbing defeated unseeded Isabelle
Troost of Hamilton 6-2, 6-0.

In the second round, Helbing
topped third-seeded Natalie
Poortenga of Grand Rapids Christian
6-4, 6-1.
And, in the third round/quarter-
finals, Helbing turned back sixth-
seeded Lily Low of Bloomfield Hills
Marion 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.
However, in the semifinal round,
Helbing’s run was stopped when she
dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to sec-
ond-seeded Lilah Zaskowski of Ada
