The Village Network of Battle
Creek, the City of Battle Creek and
Kellogg Arena hosted the first ever
Mardi Gras In The Creek event for
hundreds of patrons on Saturday,
June 29.
The dual-spaced event, held
inside Kellogg Arena and outside at
Festival Market Square, was an all-
day party with music, food, dancing
and a Mardi Gras style gala to cap
off the event at evenings’ end.
The organizer of this first-of-its-
kind event, Felix “Third” McShan,
owns T3 Salon, downtown Battle
Creek, and is a Battle Creek native.
He is a professional hair & fashion
stylist, with many well-known cli-
ents in his 30+ year career, including
Gladys Knight, amongst others.
He is also a founding member
of The Village Network of Battle
Creek.
“We wanted to put something dif-
ferent and exciting together,” said
Third. “I love home (Battle Creek)
and it’s nice to do something to give
back and showcase our talents. I’ve
been out west, Las Vegas & L.A.,
based in Beverly Hills for a time,
and have had many high-profile cli-
ents, but it’s always great to come
back home.”
The event started downtown and
outside at Festival Market Square
with activities such as the Ride-
The-Creek 1K, the 5K Walk-The-
Creek, cardio drumming & the
KIDZ Korner ice cream social,
followed by a Teen Skate Blitz and
the Teen Summer Party hosted by
BlvckSheep.
