HARPER CREEK COMMUNITY SCHOOLS – “The Cornerstone of the Community”
Better Together: Experiencing
Excellence at New Heights
By Laura Williams, Assistant Superintendent
Harper Creek Community Schools
Welcome back! I hope this
time of year finds you refreshed
and ready for the exciting
learning ahead. As we prepare
to kick off this new school year,
I am thrilled to share our
commitment to taking excellence to new heights
both in our classrooms and beyond.
To ensure the success of these competencies,
we will continue to prioritize collaboration
among our teachers and staff in order to use
data to inform how we can best support our
students and families. Our goal remains
steadfast: to cultivate dynamic learning
environments where every student can thrive
academically and personally. We recognize that
true success will involve the active participation
of our students’ families as we continue to refine
the learning experience in our classrooms.
In addition to our curriculum enhancements, I
am pleased to highlight our ongoing partnerships
with community organizations and local
businesses. This past summer, our collaboration
in the summer program with these partners
provided our students with invaluable
experiences exploring various career pathways
aligned with their passions and talents. Building
on this success, we are committed to further
engaging with our community partners to
enrich the educational opportunities available to
our students beyond traditional classroom
settings, which will help students to learn about
different career pathways.
Thank you for your continued support and
dedication to Harper Creek Community Schools.
I eagerly anticipate working alongside each of
you as we start our 2024-2025 journey of
learning and growth together. Together we will
redefine excellence here at Harper Creek
Community Schools.
Over the past few years, we have dedicated
our early release time and other collaborative
opportunities to carefully review and revise the
curriculum across all courses offered in our
district. This effort has resulted in greater
consistency and quality in the educational
experience we provide to our students and
families. I am particularly excited about the
introduction of our new board approved English
Language Arts curricula, spanning from DK
through 8th grade. These innovative units of
study are crafted to enrich our students’ learning
experiences and foster deeper engagement, in
addition to integrating elements of science
and social studies within the curriculum.
The end goal is helping our youth to develop
these competencies across their learning
experiences:
