The Cereal City Cribbage Club
won the prestigious Michigan All-
Star Tournament on June 29.
This is the seventh time in the
20-year history of the event that
Battle Creek has won the event,
said spokesperson David Gerke.
All cribbage clubs in the state are
invited to send their best players,
with the four players chosen by
the highest win percentage in their
club over the previous year.
Each club has a tournament sea-
son from September through May,
with most clubs playing weekly.
This year’s event was held in
Traverse City, and included clubs
from Grand Rapids, Muskegon,
Mt. Pleasant, Bergland, Traverse
City and Battle Creek.
David Boyer, who is team
captain and club director, “led a
strong team, with everyone on the
team having outstanding score-
cards,” said Gerke.
Gerke and Gary Reichel took
first and third individually among
the 24 players.

The newest player to the team,
Sarah Gerke, had a winning score-
card against some of the best play-
ers in the state.
“No other cribbage club has been
able to win this event as much as
the Cereal City Cribbage Club
has been able to win,” said David
Gerke.
More information on the club is
