Calhoun County Fair

175th

Aug.
11 - 17

In celebration of the 175th Calhoun

County Fair, the planning committee

has announced a new activity for the

fair and fairgrounds: honorary bench-

es. Donations from five families have

been secured to start this project as

the inaugural benches, but starting at

the fair this year, anyone interested

may donate to purchase a bench to

be located at the fairgrounds.

The first five benches:
In memory of Brent Belcher, by the

Belcher family

In memory of loved ones, by the

Combs family

In memory of William Kiessling,

by Doug Kiessling and family

In memory of Bud and Joanne

Moe, by Junior Stealy and family

In memory of Don and Alice Rook,

as well as John Rook, by Chris

Landis and family

If families and/or businesses sign

up by March 1, 2025, they will be

engraved with the special 175th fair

logo. After that date, this bench proj-

ect will continue on, but without the

special engraved logo.

Benches have been arranged and

purchased through Longstreet Living

of Marshall, who are also donating

to the project. Owner Kevin and

Mackenzie Murphy are working with

the Calhoun County Agricultural and

Industrial Society and committee

on this special project. The bench is

all-weather furniture using recycled

plastics and comes with a 20-year

warranty, through Polywood, built in

the USA.

Engraving is done by High Caliber

Laser (Rich and Jen Cuatt) of

Albion.

“We are excited for this new proj-

ect as a win-win for all involved,”

said chairperson Lora Finch. “This

is a wonderful opportunity for the

memory of loved ones to live on at

the fair, especially for those near and

dear to us that have donated so much

Bench project at the Calhoun County Fair

to the fair and loved it. This is also a
great opportunity to provide benches
to sit on while attending the Calhoun
County Fair, as well as the many

other activities held at the fair. It will
make our fairgrounds a better place.
We also worked hard with this proj-
ect to keep the benches and engraving

local as we are using businesses in
Marshall and Albion.”
