Christmas,
97, of Battle
Creek, passed
away Saturday,
August 24,
2024, at
Lakeview
Assisted
Living. She
was born
January 26, 1927, in Crossville,
Tennessee, to Ed and Venus
Hancock.
Following her graduation, Treva
went to work in Oak Ridge,
Tennessee, where she worked on
the atomic bomb. She later moved
to Battle Creek and married Estel
Christmas in 1947. Treva worked at
Kellogg’s for a short time and later


as a Licensed Practical Nurse at
Lakeview General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, parents, four sisters and
three brothers.
Treva is survived by her son,
Ronald Christmas, and his wife,
Carol; two grandsons, Kevin and
Keith; two great-grandchildren,
Madeline and Zachary; and many
nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed reading, shopping
and playing golf.
A graveside service was held at 2
p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024,
at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Thomas
Charles
“Thom” Dix,
73, of Battle
Creek, passed
away at home
on Tuesday,
August 20,
2024, sur-
rounded by his
loving family.
Thom was born in Battle Creek on
April 10, 1951, to Velma (Yargus)
and Alro Dix.
Thom graduated from Battle Creek
Central High School in 1969 and
after graduation served in the U.S.
Air Force from 1969 to 1973. Thom
then went on to graduate from
Western Michigan University with
a degree in accounting. He worked
and later owned Starks Restaurant
Supply, worked as the CFO for
Hotset Corporation before founding
his accounting firm, Dix Accounting
Service, Inc.
On May 23, 1970, Thom married
Elizabeth McGlocklin. Together,
they have two children, Anthony
(Anna) Dix and Kimberlee (Michael
Connor) Dix. He has four grandchil-
dren, Austin Connor, Timothy Dix,
Kaleb Dix and Gavriella Dix, as well
as several nieces and nephews.
Thom was preceded in death by
his parents, Arlo and Velma; sib-
lings Shirley (Dix) Danberry, Linda
(Dix) Bingham, Arlo Dix and Debbie
Dix. Thom’s remaining siblings are


Daniel (Janet) Dix, Keith Dix and
Michael (Brenda) Dix.
Thom enjoyed many passions in
life but his love for his family was
always his top priority. He enjoyed
traveling with his wife, Elizabeth,
along with many family and friends.
Spending time on the golf course
with family and friends was of great
importance for him, especially when
it included his son, son-in-law and
grandsons, and especially enjoyed
spending quality time with his most-
favorite granddaughter. He loved
spending time with all his friends
and clients, reading or working
around the yard. Thom would do
anything in his power to help any-
one that asked. He will be missed
by all.
At the request of the family, visita-
tion will be held at Baxter Funeral
& Cremation Service on Thursday,
September 5, 2024, from 4-7 p.m.
A memorial service will also be
held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation
Service on Friday, September 6,
2024, at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow the service at
Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Elsie May
Griswold,
77, of Battle
Creek, passed
away August
20, 2024, at
Rose Arbor
Place in
Kalamazoo.
She was born
October 11,
1946, in Battle Creek, the daugh-
ter of Marten and Audrey (Letner)
White.
Elsie was a lifelong resident of
Battle Creek. She graduated in
1964 from Battle Creek Central
High School, then went on to attend
Kellogg Community College. She
previously was employed at the
Fort Custer State Home, Riverside
Manor and the VA Medical Center,
from which she retired in 2016 after
25 years of service. Elsie was a
member at Jesus Name Apostolic
Church in Coldwater. She enjoyed
quilting, sewing and porcelain doll-
making.

Elsie was preceded in death by
her parents, and brothers Virles and
Daniel White.
She is survived by her husband;
Lewis Costley of Battle Creek;
children Allen (Kelley Cochran)
Griswold of Brunswick, GA, and
Theresa (Brian) Barto of Battle
Creek; grandchildren Zachary
Griswold and Vincent Barto.
The family received friends from
5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024,
at the Richard A. Henry Funeral
Home & Cremation Services. A
funeral service was scheduled
for 10 a.m., Wednesday, August
28, 2024, at the funeral home,
with Pastor Paul Parker officiating.
Interment followed the funeral ser-
vice at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ruthanne
Morris, 80,
passed away
August 17,
2024, at
Marshall
Nursing and
Rehab in
Marshall,
Michigan.
She was born
July 8, 1944, to John Robert and
Marjorie (Berg) Dickert in Ashland,
Wisconsin.
Ruthanne graduated from
Pennfield High School in Battle
Creek, Michigan. While in school,
Ruthanne was a majorette. She
worked as a waitress and bartender
at Nottke’s. Ruthanne enjoyed
bowling and pool, and was part of
the VNEA 8Ball Pool League as a
captain, as well as the Thursday
Night Mix League. She also
loved to camp, especially at Fort
Custer, Ludington and Gun Lake.
She enjoyed going to the beach
while visiting her family in Florida.
Ruthanne loved her kids, and really

loved being a grandma.
Ruthanne is survived by her long-
time boyfriend, William Holder of
Battle Creek, Michigan; son Kevin
(Robin) Morris of Florida; grand-
daughter Allisia (Mikey) Blood of
Florida; great-grandchildren Mason,
Silas, Wyatt and Ellie; and brother
Robert (Robin) Dickert of Battle
Creek, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by
her son Timothy Morris; mother
Margaret; father John; and step-
mother Kay Dickert.
Cremation arrangements have
been entrusted to Kempf Family
Funeral and Cremation Services,
723 US Hwy. 27 North, Marshall,
MI. No services have been planned
at this time
