Richard
(Dick) Taylor
Kellogg, 86, of
Battle Creek,
Michigan,
passed away
peacefully
on Saturday,
August 31,
2024, at Rose
Arbor Hospice.
He was born July 6, 1938, to Robert
Conrad Kellogg and Mary Elizabeth
(Taylor) Kellogg.
He graduated from Lakeview High
School in 1957. He was married to
Bonnie Berger (now Visser), with
whom he had his children, Kevin,
Kelly Sue and Kimberlyn.
He later married Susan (Gorham)
and shared 25 wonderful years
before her life was ended too early
due to Alzheimer’s. Dick had two
stepchildren, Traci Dyksterhouse
and Doug France.
If you knew Dick, you knew that
he liked to joke around and was
quite a character. He loved tell-
ing people stories of his life, such
as the time when he was held at
gunpoint while he was a manager
at Tepe’s Merchandise store in
Portage. And how he once lived
next door to the famous boxer Leon
Spinks. He especially loved show-
ing off the picture where he, his
brother David, and a friend were the
original Snap, Crackle and Pop for
a Kellogg’s print ad. He loved shar-
ing news of family and friends and
continued to get choked up anytime
he talked about his big love, Susan.
Then there were a couple of sub-
jects that you knew not to get him
started on.
He loved
dogs and had
many through-
out his life, but
Sherman and
Kiku may have been his favorites.
When he was healthy, he loved
back roads driving, racking up an
amazing amount of miles walk-
ing, grabbing a coffee with friends,
having a burger at Culver’s, and
hanging out at Horrock’s tavern.
He deeply enjoyed his friendships
with Bob Cadervack, Marlin Mack,
Dennis Elmer, Jessica Reiser and
Denise James.
He is survived by son Kevin
Kellogg of Honor, MI; daughter
Kimberlyn (Joel) Anteau of Smyrna,
TN; stepdaughter Traci (Marc)
Dyksterhouse of Kalamazoo, MI;
stepson Doug France of Clark,
Philippines; son-in-law Greg Blair
of Sterling Heights; grandchildren
Kayla Kellogg, Robert Kellogg,
Gavin Anteau, Jacob Elliot, Aiden
Dyksterhouse and Dominique
(Danielle) Collins; as well great-
grandchildren Josh, Oliver, Olivia,
Will and Ariana.
H was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Susan Kellogg;
brothers Robert and David; his sis-
ter, Susan Gregory; and his daugh-
ter Kelly Sue Blair.
