Lorin K.
Nemrava,
58, of Battle
Creek, crossed
over into
the heavens
on Monday,
August 26,
2024, at 1:
p.m. at home,
following a
courageous two-year battle with
brain cancer. She was surrounded
by the angelic nursing staff of
Oaklawn Hospice and Brian, her
husband of 15 years. In her last
moments she gave Brian exactly
what he asked for, just one more
breath. Lorin was born Dec. 20,
1965, in Battle Creek to Edward
and Jean Nemrava (Hughes)
of Battle Creek. Lorin graduated
from Lakeview High School in 1984,
where she excelled in extraordinary
athletic feats of cheerleading and
fanciful routines with the pom-pom
squad.
Following graduation, Lorin attend-
ed college at Central Michigan
University, where she graduated
with a degree in Psychology with
a focus on counseling. She then
moved and spent years between
California and Arizona, where she
studied and practiced massage
and a host of other healing arts.
She eventually earned a Master of
Arts in counseling from Western
Michigan University and spent years
in practice up until early 2024. Lorin
provided incalculable words of hope
and encouragement to numerous
clients and she restored so many
lives and relationships with her gen-
uine care and understanding of the

human condition. She also practiced
hypnosis, which allowed her clients
to identify, embrace and love uncon-
ditionally their inner self.
Lorin loved the sunrise, a morn-
ing cup of coffee and found purpose
in rescuing and adopting cats and
dogs. She had an enchanting smile
that lit up a room and brought genu-
ine comfort to anyone she would
meet. This was matched only by
her eyes, which, according to her
husband, Brian, resembled the
reflection of the Mediterranean Sea
at dusk. She also loved to adorn
her garden with rocks, crystals, and
a variety of statues and sculptures.
Lorin was an avid reader and had
a passionate interest in spirituality,
positive thinking and finding the light
in everything and everyone. She
loved to remind everyone that hope
and love are the essential founda-
tions of the human experience and
that death is not the end but rather
another step to our true existence.
Lorin loved to crochet blankets,
iPad cases and book covers and
was a lifelong fan of the psycho-
logical drama that she identified
in every episode of the “Young
and the Restless.” However, noth-
ing matched Lorin’s love for her
daughter, Kyra, 25, of Battle
Creek. They often vacationed
together, including fabulous trips
to Cedar Point, Virginia Beach and
the California coast. Lorin’s very
life focused on guiding, supporting
and motivating Kyra to be the best
person possible without limit. There
is no doubt that Lorin’s loving spirit
of love and light will continue to
guide Kyra as she moves through
life. Lorin’s love for Kyra is without

end, irreplaceable, and beyond
comprehension.
Lorin was also most proud of her
rekindled relationship with Traci Hill,
a fellow Spartan (class of ’83) and
member of the pom-pom squad.
Their reconnection filled Lorin with
laughter and joy and led to the
exchange of great stories and a
comforting friendship that Lorin
mentioned in her last weeks. The
two planned to collaborate on a
book that detailed their shenanigans
during their tenure at Lakeview,
which Traci may still produce as
a tribute to Lorin. Also heartbro-
ken is Lorin’s dear friend, Pam
Wuensch of Battle Creek. The two
became friends when Lorin was
only 11 and they fostered a friend-
ship that survived many years,
even though they were states apart.
Lorin proudly participated in Pam’s
wedding, which included a series of
adventures before, during and after
the ceremony. Over the years they
took many camping trips together,
which only strengthened their
friendship and created countless
memories. In her last weeks, Lorin
commented with great emotion that
Pam was the most important friend
in the formative years of her life.
Lorin is also mourned by who
she identified as her soul sister,
Teri Pearce, of Battle Creek. The
two met decades ago as a team of
instructors at Elaine Powers, where
their legendary aerobic prowess
remains unmatched, even today.
They connected over mother-
hood, their study and practice of
the healing arts, their love of fam-
ily, and formed an immeasurable
bond. Terri was at Lorin’s side at

the most important moments of
her life, including the last moments
in which Lorin left this earth and
returned to her heavenly home.
Her loving husband, Brian,
summed up his emotions about
Lorin as taken from the Wisdom of
Solomon, chapter 8: “And I loved her
and I sought her from my youth, and
I sought her as a bride for myself.
And when I saw her, I became a
lover of her beauty...Therefore I
judged to lead myself to exist with
her in companionship, having known
that she would be a counsellor of
good things and an encourage-
ment during my care and a comfort
through my pain...And I found a
pleasant delight in her loving friend-
ship and I found unfailing riches in
the labors of her hands.”
Lorin is survived by her husband,
Brian, 49; her daughter, Kyra, 25;
a brother-in-law, Michael Bradford;
and a sister-in-law, Michelle Hale.
Lorin is also survived by her cat
children, Cleo, Zoey, Spooky and
Lou. At the moment, they are
lost without their cat mom, but in
time Lorin’s spirit will comfort and
guide them, as well.
Cremation has taken place. Lorin
is to be interred within a special
urn emblazoned with artwork from
“Bewitched,” her favorite TV show.
She will be placed on her bookshelf
where she will reside until her hus-
band, Brian, takes her side in the
halls of the heavenly library adorned
with white light.
