The Calhoun County Public
Health Department (CCPHD)
says it is keeping a close eye on
COVID-19.
Calhoun County, along with
the rest of the U.S., saw a small
spike in COVID-19 cases during
August.
However, total case counts were
comparable to what was seen in
August 2023, said spokesperson
Victor Jovanovich.
The CCPHD is currently
awaiting the receipt of the latest
COVID-19 vaccine.
The CCPHD strongly urges
residents to check its website,
http://www.calhouncountymi.gov/publi-
chealth, for updates on availabil-
ity and scheduling: COVID-19

Vaccine Information.
The department’s current rec-
ommendations are:

  • Vaccination: “The COVID-
19 vaccines are among the most
effective tools we have for pre-
    venting severe illness and hospi-
    talizations. We advise keeping up
with not only the primary series
    but also any recommended boost-
    er doses,” the CCPHD said.

  • Staying Home: For both
    COVID-19 and other illnesses, it
is essential that people stay home
    when they are sick.

  • Testing: For anyone with
symptoms or who has been in
    close contact with a confirmed
    case, “we recommend prompt
    testing,” the department said.

Calhoun Health Dept.

gives COVID-19 update

at the car show with his 1973 Ford
Mustang convertible.
“They only made this body style
that I liked for three years, 1971-
73,” noted Horton, who bought
his Mustang in 2010. “It has a 351
Cleveland Cobra jet engine and has

roughly 300 horsepower. It’s a nice
car, and I really enjoy driving it.”
Inside the church, visitors to the
car show enjoyed a variety of foods,
many prepared by parents of troop
members.
This was the 12th year the BSA Car
Show has been held on Labor Day,
Next year’s show will take place on
Sept. 1, 2025.
