“And when it’s time to relax and
have fun, Battle Creek can’t be beat.
“Whether you’re a resident or a
visitor, there’s always something to
do, from big-name concerts and art
events, popular festivals and farm-
ers’ markets, and a wide variety of
independent restaurants and national
chains, to much-loved museums,
picturesque parks, one of Michigan’s
largest zoos, a 72-acre arboretum, 11
golf courses – even a mid-town lake
and a 26-mile trail system for hiking
and biking.
“Battle Creek is a city that values
its history, and though there have
been some challenges along the way,
you’ll find all sorts of good people
working together to make a bright
future.
“Our city is geographically well-
positioned, beautiful and easy going
with a great quality of life.
“Large enough to be diverse,
vibrant and resource-rich, yet small
enough that you can easily get to
know a lot of people on a first-name
basis.
“We love Battle Creek and think
you will too. Connect with us and
experience for yourself why our city
can be your home.”
The Franke Center for the Arts
in Marshall is bracing for a night
of wild stand-up comedy when
Heywood Banks takes the stage on
Saturday, Sept. 28.
The show will begin at 8 p.m. with
a pre-show mixer in the Downstage
Club at 7 p.m.
Known for his off-the-wall humor
and his brilliantly outrageous origi-
nal songs, Banks is a true Michigan
legend.
His past shows at The Franke
Center have packed the house and
left audiences in tears.
His official bio reads:
“From the Bob and Tom Show
Comedian, Odd funny Songwriter
The guy who sings ‘YEAH
TOAST!’
Heywood Banks!

“Heywood Banks is a true origi-
nal,” said Franke Center Executive
Director Jacob Gates. “Last time he
was at The Franke Center he sold the
place out and had everybody cracking
up. It was a great night. We expect
more of the same this time around –
and tickets are going fast.”
