Leroy (Butch)
Brendum, 77,
of Battle Creek,
passed away
Sunday, Oct.
13, 2024, at
Bronson Battle
Creek Hospital,
following a brief
illness. He was
born Nov. 13,
1946, in Battle Creek, to the late Verdell
and Lilah (Iverson) Brendum.
Butch was a graduate of Battle Creek
Central High School, class of 1965.
He entered the United States Army
on June 24, 1966, and served several
years, which included a deployment
to Germany for two years. Leroy was
honorably discharged on June 23, 1969,
attaining the rank of SP4. While he was
in Germany, his sister set up a subscrip-
tion to the Battle Creek Enquirer so he
could stay current on the local news
in his beloved hometown. Butch spent
most of his working career in grocery
retail management, retiring after 35-plus
years of service.
Butch was known for his infectious
sense of humor and making funny, car-
toonish voices. He loved cats and was
especially fond of his fur-baby, Lucy,
who will no doubt miss her human.
Butch enjoyed spending time with family

and friends and had a heart for those
experiencing challenging times. He
devoted time to serving others through
volunteer work at the Haven of Rest
Ministries in Battle Creek. Butch was
preceded in death by his parents; sister
Shirley Slayton; sister Frances Noud;
and sister Barbara Boblet.
Butch is survived by his sister Edie
(Bob) Eifler of Battle Creek; nephews
Rick (Pam) Kinney and Scott Slayton of
Battle Creek; nieces Kathy (Dan) Hinton
of Battle Creek, Cindy (David) Pierce of
Hastings, Robin (Bill) Smith of Houston,
Penni Eigster of San Francisco, and
Tracy (Andrew) Babick of Battle Creek;
close friend Ken Rosenborough of Battle
Creek, and numerous grandnieces and
nephews, all of whom will miss him.
A graveside service with full mili-
tary honors took place at 1:30 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at Ft. Custer
National Cemetery in Augusta, Mich.

Pauline
(Jones) Hart
went to be with
her Lord and
Savior Jesus
Crist on Oct. 24,


  1. She was
    a faithful ser-
    vant throughout
    her 97 years.
    She was an
    evangelist, a youth leader, missionary
    leader, choir director and Sunday school
    teacher over the years. She loved young
    people and met no strangers. She was
    outgoing and funny. She loved the Lord
    with all her heart and sharing His love
    with others. Her favorite saying was,
    “I’m packed up, prayed up and ready to
    go!”
    She was born April 24, 1927, in Battle
    Creek to Haskell and Roshie (Williams)
    Jones. Pauline was preceded in death by
    her parents, Haskell and Roshie Jones;
    brothers Tuck Jones, Lonnie Jones,
    Truman Jones; sister Pearl Jones Kelley;
    and a grandson, Michael Nolen.
    On May 23, 1942, she married her
    lifelong love, A.J. Hart. Together they


had four children: Joe, Rosanna, Kelsey
and Kathy. She was a good wife, car-
ing and wonderful mother. She was
preceded in death by her husband, A.J.
Hart. She attended Battle Creek Public
Schools. Pauline worked at General
Food/Post for 27 years, retiring in 1985.
Pauline is survived by her children,
Joe Hart, Rosanna Hart (James) Nolen,
Kelsey (Susan) Hart and Kathy (Donald)
Bouchard; seven grandchildren, Angie
Hart, Amanda Jo Hart Howard, Kenneth
Nolen, Tammy Nolen Hardy, Bryce Hart
and Emily Hart; five great-grandchildren;
and three great-great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial is planned.
She attended Family Altar Chapel. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made to Family Altar Chapel.

Geraldine
“Gerre” Louise
Muller, 83, of
Battle Creek,
Mich., passed
away Saturday,
Oct. 19, 2024, at
Calhoun County
Medical Care
Facility, sur-
rounded by her
family. She was born Dec. 2, 1940, the
daughter of Luther James Cameron and
Beryl Isabelle (Palmer) Cameron.
Gerre worked in sales for several
years in the lumber industry and then
finished her career at WBCK.
She married the love of her life,
Richard Muller, on Oct. 31, 1959, in
Muskegon, Mich., and the two spent the
remaining years together until his pass-
ing in 2018.
Gerre was passionate about arts
and crafts, loved to volunteer at the

art center and Field of Flight in Battle
Creek, loved to visit the zoo with her
grandchildren and travel with family.
Gerre surrounded herself with her fam-
ily and friends and always loved to be
near them; they truly were the light of
her life.
Gerre is survived by her children, Lynne
(Brian) Quada, Wendy (Dr. Reza Tehrani)
Beckwith, Richard (Julie) Muller; grand-
children, Jessica, Holly, Chelsae, Kaitlyn,
Jim; great-grandchildren, Mason, Julia,
Serafina, Angelo and James.
She was preceded in death by her par-
ents; husband, Richard A. Muller; and
brother, James “Jim” Cameron.
Visitation will be held at Baxter Funeral
& Cremation Service on Saturday, Nov.
2, 2024, from noon to 2 p.m., with the
memorial service to follow at 2 p.m.

Timothy
L. O’Meara,
71, of Battle
Creek, Mich.,
passed on
Friday, October
25, 2024, sur-
rounded by his
family. He was
born January
23, 1953, the
son of Norman and Maxine (Peterson)
O’Meara.
He graduated from Delton Kellogg
High School in 1971. After high school
Tim was employed at Ralston Purina
until 1992 when he had to medically
retire.
Tim married the love of his life, Onilee
Phee Davie, on February 12, 1972, at
St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Delton,
Mich.
Tim enjoyed spending time with his
family, especially his grandchildren. He
loved to garden, work on wood working
projects, watching Christmas movies,
and reminiscing about growing up on a
farm. Tim attended and volunteered his
time at Marion E. Burch Adult Daycare
for 32 years. He will be remembered
for being a giving, loving person, who
thought of others before himself. Tim

will be dearly missed by his family and
friends.
He is survived by his daughters,
Tammy (Bill) Duff, Timberlee (John)
Sebright and
Sheyanne (Derek) LaCaze; grandchil-
dren Hayden (Ashlyn) Duff, Brendan
Duff, Tyler (Brenna Withers), Caleb
Sebright and Bayleigh Sebright; broth-
ers Norman (Marta) O’Meara, Michael
(Ronna) O’Meara and Thomas (Cheryl)
O’Meara; and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his par-
ents, Norman and Maxine.
Visitation will be held at Bachman
Hebble Funeral Service on Sunday,
November 3, 2024, from 4-7 p.m., with
a Rosary at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian
burial will be held at St. Philip Catholic
Church on Monday, November 4, 2024,
at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Hicks
Cemetery in Pennfield Township, Mich.
