Section 105c Schools of Choice Program
For Families in
Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, and Van Buren
Intermediate School Districts
In an effort to provide a quality education for all students in the county, the nine school districts in
St. Joseph County are offering a Section 105c Schools of Choice Program for the 2024-25 school
year. This Schools of Choice Program allows students of families who reside in Branch, Calhoun,
Cass, Kalamazoo, or Van Buren Intermediate School District a choice to attend participating school
districts within the St. Joseph County ISD.*- Schools of Choice Program Applications are available at any school district Superintendent’s office
and at the ISD office. Additional information may be obtained by calling the following schools:
Applications must be submitted to your choice school district during the “application
window” to be considered:

Cereal City Lions Club
On Nov. 6, members of area Lions
Clubs met at the Bedford Lions Den
to sort reading glasses that had been
donated by the community.
Twenty-four members from
Bedford, Battle Creek Host, Cereal
City and Pennfield Lions clubs
joined forces to clean, count and box
up the items. Many hands make light
work, and within 2 hours they had
over 3,300 pairs of glasses boxed up.
Prescription glasses, reading glass-
es, sun glasses, and old lenses were
all part of the mix in this collection
amount.
The glasses will be delivered to
the Special Needs Vision Clinic in
Saginaw. The clinic is attached to the
Millet Learning Center, which is a
school for disabled and handicapped
children and young adults.
The students help clean and orga-
nize the glasses for use in the clinic.

tion, but also are used by mission
groups in Nicaragua, Guatemala, and
Honduras.

tive of the donation.
The Lions Clubs have always sup-
ported their goal of ensuring disabled
children and adults receive the best
optometric care possible.
If you have glasses to donate, you
can call your local Lions Clubs or
drop them in one of our many col-
lection boxes around town. The big
yellow mailboxes with the Lions
logo are located at the Kool Family
Community Center near Senior
Partners, Family Fare on Columbia,
Family Fare in the Pennfield Plaza,
and in Bedford across from the Post
Office. Several optometry offices
also have glasses collection boxes.
The Lions Clubs would like to
thank the community for their con-
tinued support and donations. Where
