On Sep.7,^19 656, the king of Kucha. Ho-li-pu-shih-pi personally
visited the T’ang court (Tzu-chih t’ung-chien p.6298).
On Feb.4, 675, the king of Kucha offered gifts and received silk in
return (Chiu T’ang shu 5:6a; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5026).^20
On Jan.8, 676, the king of Kucha presented fine horses to the T’ang
court, even though the Tibetans loosely controlled East Turkestan from
670 to 692 (Chiu T’ang shu 5:6b; 198:10b; Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5026).
In the 3rd month (Mar./Apr.) of 692, Kucha offered gifts (Ts’e-fu
yüan-kuei p.5026)
In the 1st month (Feb./Mar.) of 709, Kucha envoys offered regional
objects (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5026).
In the 6th month (July) of 721, envoys from the king of Kucha
presented horses and dogs (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5026).
In 730, the king of Kucha sent a younger brother on a visit to the
T’ang court (Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 330:40a).
On Feb.14, 747, the New Year’s Day, Kucha envoys congratulated
at the T’ang court and presented regional objects (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei
p.5030).
In the 3rd month (April) of 748, envoys from Kucha presented
regional objects (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5030). This is the last recorded
mission from Kucha in T’ang times.
In the 5th month (June) of 976, envoys from Kucha offered gifts to
the Sung court. This state was henceforth under Uighur rulers (Sung
hui-yao kao 1076:1a).
In the 2nd month (Feb./Mat.) of 1001, envoys from Kucha presented
fine horses, dromedaries, camels without humps, jade horse trappings,
a precious sword, an iron sword, opaque glass vessels, pitchers of
t’ou stone^21 etc. They received brocade garments, golden belts, 200
ounces of silver wine vessels, and 200 bolts of brocade and thin silk
(Sung hui-yao kao 1076:1a-2a).
On Dec.15, 1001, Kucha envoys offered gifts (Sung shih 6:14a, 14b;
Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao 336:40a ).^22
