In the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 823) of the Chinese year 822, Khitan
envoys offered gifts (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
On Jan.1, 825, Khitan envoys offered gifts (Chiu T’ang shu 17A:4b;

In the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 826) of the Chinese year 825, Khitan

In the 12th month (Dec./Jan., 830) of the Chinese year 829, Khitan

tan chief with a mission of 31 men was received at the T’ang court.
In the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 837) of the same Chinese year, Khitan
envoys offered gifts (Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 11th month (December) of 837, Khitan envoys offered gifts
(Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
In the 12th month (Jan./Feb., 840) of the Chinese year 839, a Khi-
tan chief with a mission of 30 men offered gifts (T’ang hui-yao 96:4a;
Ts’e-fu yüan-kuei p.5033).
During the height of the Uighur empire, the Khitan and Hsi had
fallen under its domination, and Uighur inspectors had collected taxes
annually. In the 9th month (Oct./Nov.) of 842, the Hsi and Khitan
killed hundreds of these inspectors. The Uighurs attacked and defeated
the Khitan chief Ch’ü-jung, who thereafter allied himself with the
Chinese. Emperor Wu-tsung appointed him General of the Cloud
Flags and Acting General of the Martial Guards of the Right (Chiu
T’ang shu 199B:7b-8a; Tzu-chih t’ung-chien p.7967; Wen-hsien t’ung-k’ao
345:16b).
