Khitan court unsuccessfully complained about rising tensions (Liao
shih 4:6b).
In the 7th month (July/Aug.) of 941, Southern T’ang envoys to the
Khitan court presented a letter in a ball of wax (Liao shih 4:6b).
On Aug.9, 941, Later Chin envoys to the Khitan court presented
an inkstone of crystal (Liao shih 4:7a).
On Aug.30, 941, Southern T’ang envoys to the Khitan court pre-
sented a letter in a ball of wax (Liao shih 4:7a).
On Sep.6, 941, Later Chin envoys to the Khitan court presented
a bow decorated with rhinoceros horn, and bamboo arrows (Liao shih
4:7a).
In the 8th month (Aug./Sep.) of 941, envoys from the ruler of
Wu-yüeh to the Khitan court presented a letter in a ball of wax (Liao
shih 4:7a).
On Sep.20, 941, Kao-tsu sent the Superintendent of the Imperial
Household as envoy to the Khitan court (Hsin Wu-tai shih 8:8b).
On Oct.11, 941, Kao-tsu sent the Military Commissioner of the
Army Which Keeps the State in Peace as envoy to the Khitan court
(Hsin Wu-tai shih 8:8b).
On Nov.8, 941, envoys of the ruler of Wu-yüeh to the Khitan court
offered gifts (Liao shih 4:7a).
On Dec.1, 941, Later Chin envoys to the Khitan court announced
that their forces were attacking the Chinese strongman An Ch’ung-
jung. He was much opposed to the Khitan, had abused their envoys,
and even executed some of those passing through his territory (Hsin
Wu-tai shih 51:13a; Liao shih 4:7a).
On Dec.23, 941, Later Chin envoys to the Khitan court announced
that one of their Military Commissioners had rebelled (Liao shih 4:
7a).
On Dec.25, 941, Southern T’ang envoys to the Khitan court pre-
sented a letter in a ball of wax (Liao shih 4:7b).
On Dec.31, 941, Khitan envoys were received at the Later Chin
court (Hsin Wu-tai shih 8:9a).
In the 1st month (Jan./Feb.) of 942, T’ai-tsung sent the Commis-
sioner of the Visitors Bureau to the Later Chin court to congratulate
on the birthday of Kao-tsu^32 (Liao shih 4:7b-8a).
