On Nov.2, 1022,^90 Sheng-tsung sent two envoys to the Sung court
to congratulate on the birthday of the Empress Dowager^91 and two
other envoys to congratulate on the New Year’s Day of Jan. 25, 1023.
The New Year mission arrived on Jan.21, 1023, and the birthday
mission on Jan.29, 1023 (Sung shih 9:3a; Liao shih 16:7a).
On Dec.16, 1022, Sung envoys to the Liao court thanked [for the
congratulations on Jen-tsung’s ascension] (Liao shih 16:7b).
On May 6, 1023, the birthday of Jen-tsung, the Chinese officials
and Liao envoys wished long life in the Hall for Venerating Virtue
(Sung shih 9:3b).
On Oct.18, 1023, Sheng-tsung sent two envoys to the Sung court
to congratulate on the New Year’s Day of Feb.13, 1024, and another
two envoys to congratulate on the birthday of Jen-tsung^92 (Liao shih
16:8a).
On Dec.10, 1023, two Sung envoys arrived at the Liao court to
congratulate on the birthday of Sheng-tsung’s empress and two other
envoys to congratulate on the birthday of Sheng-tsung^93 (Liao shih 16:
8a).
On Feb.7, 1024, Liao envoys arrived at the Sung court to con-
gratulate on the New Year’s Day of Feb.13 (Hsü Tzu-chih t’ung-chien
ch’ang-pienp.900).
On Feb.13, 1024, the New Year’s Day, four Sung envoys congratu-
lated at the Liao court (Liao shih 16:8b).
In the 3rd month (Apr./May) of 1024, Liao envoys to the Sung
court presented a letter and were received in audience (Sung hui-yao
kao 5257:50b).
In the 7th month (Aug./Sep.) of 1024, Sung sent envoys to the Liao
court to discuss territorial matters (Sung hui-yao kao 5257:52b).
In the 8th month (Sep./Oct.) of 1024, Liao envoys arrived at the
Sung court with an oath letter (Sung hui-yao kao 5257:52b).
On Oct.23, 1024, Sung sent two envoys to Liao to congratulate
