(^46) Arambol – Anjuna – 30 km
From Arambol, a short bike ride took us to Anjuna, where Mary’s offered decent
digs a short amble from the beach. So, our lazy existence continued, walking
along the seashore, swimming, and eating. At night, we frequented the adjacent
restaurant, which showed movies and was extremely popular.
Anjuna – Panaji – 20 km
A shorter than expected ride led into Goa’s capital. Surprisingly, the Portuguese
influence of yesteryear was still clearly visible in the architecture. An old
Portuguese house at Rp300 became home that night. Amanda wasn’t
impressed and became fed up with places that did not smell like roses.
Wandering the streets of Panaji, one could easily imagine being in Portugal
instead of India. Narrow alleys were lined by colourful houses decorated with
mosaics and shells. By evening, Amanda braved the water for a cruise on the
river—my sister is immensely courageous!
