INTERNATIONAL DAY
OF UNIVERSITY SPORT
Proclaimed by UNESCO
20 SeptemberEUSA celebrated with a
#beactive cycling activity through
the scenic path of the valley
of Mislinja River in the area of
Slovenj Gradec, continuing with
individual sporting activities done
by EUSA staff and volunteers,
and extending the celebrations
with a #beactive run in Salerno,
engaging members of the
Executive Committee, EUSA Staff
and EUSA events participants,
representatives of Member
Federations, FISU representatives
and other partners.
The celebrations of the #LetsIdus
International Day of University
Sport and the #BeActive
European Week of Sport were
also made throughout Europe by
EUSA members, universities, and
students.
Here is a short insight to some of
the diverse activities throughout
Europe:
Albania & Kosovo- Joined hiking event in Valbona
Valley - 50 participants, including
students, university staff and
sports enthusiasts - Series of other interactive
activities, exchanging ideas
and experiences
Austria- Pagoda and a hands-on station
at Heldenplatz - Participation in the CIVIS Days
2024, with two morning runs
with a running guide and a
morning yoga session on the
roof terrace of the Unipark - Recycling event where balls,
tires, mats and other sporting
equipment is collected,
repaired and reused
Croatia- Various sporting events around
Croatia: Vukovar, Zadar, Rijeka,
Split and Zagreb - 3x3 basketball tournaments,
beach volleyball, hiking tours,
yoga, futsal, basketball, bicycle
tours, dunk competitions and
teqball - EU-CONEXUS University

Cyprus- Organized Zumba session
- Gathering students from
various backgrounds,
encouraging active
lifestyle and highlighting
the importance of physical
fitness, mental well-being, and
teamwork, aligning perfectly
with the day’s theme of
inclusivity in sports
Estonia- Organised event – miniYliPalli
with competition in 3x3
basketball, blind volleyball and
roundnet - Active sports days gathering
100 participants for the fifth
year in a row
Finland- Organized an online meeting
of the University on the Move
Network, about the inculcation
of physical activity as part
of the university’s strategic
activities - Three campaigns: Better
work ability through exercise
campaign, the Make a move
campaign by the public
administration, and the Active
nation and people cooperation
promoted by the Olympic
Committee and other parties
THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF
UNIVERSITY SPORT (IDUS)
The International Day of University Sport (IDUS),
proclaimed and endorsed by the United Nations Education,
Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) and the
International University Sports Federation (FISU) was
celebrated all around the world on September 20.
