ENHANCING SPORT ORGANISATIONS


AND MANAGEMENT (ESOM)


The ESOM (Enhancing Sport Organisations and Management) project, co-founded


by the European Union, was successfully concluded at the end of August, with


great realisation results during its timeline along 2024.


Meanwhile, three project
meetings took place, as well
as many educational events,
seminars and roundtables related
to the project.


ESOM workshops and seminars
were on the topics of: Dual
Career, Education of Staff &
Volunteers, Engagement &
Participation, Event Management
& Organisation, Finances &
Funding, Good Governance
& Policy Making, Marketing
& Promotion, Media &
Communication, Networking &
Partnerships, Safety & Security
and Volunteer Recruitment &
Management.


On February 2nd, seminar and
in-person partners’ meeting was
hosted by the University Sport
Association of Poland (AZS) in
Warsaw, where presentations
and discussions to share different
experiences on the principals’


topics of volunteering and
management of sports events
were held.

The seminar included a variety of
topics, presented, and discussed,
such as: volunteer recruitment
and management, different types
of volunteering within EUSA
and the other organisations,
volunteering management,
importance of volunteering,
key points and resources on
volunteering.

During the summer, partners
of the ESOM project held two
meetings. On 14th of July,
they met during the European
Universities Games in Miskolc,
hosted by the Hungarian
University Sports Federation,
while the conclusive meeting
in Zagreb took place on 31st of
August during the FISU World
Forum, hosted by the Croatian
Academic Sports Federation.

Within the project, a round table
was organised on Monday, July
22, focusing on the legacy of
sports events, as part of the
ESOM project, discussing the
roles of the institutions and
organisations in university and
other sports events.

The EUSA Forum, held on 13th of
July in Debrecen, on the topic
of “Synergies in university sport
development”, was as well part of
the ESOM project.

In August, the last conclusive
project meeting of the partners,
served as an occasion to go
through the general overview
and the activities implemented
during the project, as well as to
share the action plan of the next
activities foreseen, before the
technical and official closure of
the project.

The ESOM project, its activities
and results were presented by
Hristina Hristova, during the
Officials Seminar, part of the FISU
World Forum, which was held
from 27-31 od August in Zagreb.

ESOM project is led by the EUSA
Institute (SLO), in partnership
with national university sports
associations: Croatian Academic
Sports Federation – CASF/HASS
(CRO), Hungarian University
Sports Federation – HUSF/
MEFS (HUN), Students Sports
Association of Montenegro –
SSAM/USSCG (MNE), Student
Sports Association the
Netherlands (NED), University
Sports Association of Poland –
AZS (POL), Sports Students’
Union of Ukraine – SSUU (UKR)
and the University of Ljubljana –
UL (SLO). The project is co-
financed by the European Union.
