FISU AMERICA
FISU America continues to position itself as a driving force
for the development of university sports in America. With a
vibrant and diverse agenda, 2024 was an unforgettable year
that combined top-level sports competitions with forums for
academic and cultural exchange.
What is FISU America?
FISU America is the continental
sports organization that unites
and coordinates the efforts of
university sports organizations
from every country in America.
It represents the region before
FISU (International Federation of
University Sports).
A memorable 2024
2024 was a year filled with
unforgettable moments, with a
calendar packed with action:
- FISU America Chess: starting
on April 11, this online
tournament brought together
over 190 student-athletes from
13 countries, showcasing the
region’s talent and strategy in
chess. - FISU America 3x3: held in
Argentina from May 10 to 12,
with 17 universities from across
the continent participating.
In the women’s category,
Carleton University (Canada)
took gold, while ITESM
Monterrey (Mexico) earned
silver. In the men’s category,
Universidade Paulista (Brazil)
claimed first place, and
Escuela Superior Politécnica
del Litoral (Ecuador) came
second. These teams, along
with ITESM Toluca (Mexico),
competed in the FISU
University World Cup 3x3
Basketball, where Carleton
University won silver and
ITESM Monterrey secured
bronze.
- FISU America Football:
Uruguay hosted this exciting
tournament, a qualifier for
the FISU University World
Cup Football, from May 22 to
June 2. The champions were
