There are many associations when you think of Croatia.
Still, some of the most common are its beautiful Adriaticcoastline and its sports successes, contributing to its
global recognition.
The country of 3.8 million,
located on the crossroads of
central, southern, and south-
eastern Europe won 52 Olympic
medals since Croatia gained
independence in 1991. Croatian
side of the Adriatic includes
1246 islands attracting millions
of visitors yearly, and beautiful
coastal Dalmatian cities like
Split, Dubrovnik, Trogir, Sibenik,
and Zadar proudly display its
UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Croatia has ten sights inscribed
on the UNESCO World Heritage
list, seven located in the Dalmatia
region, the birthplace of the
independent medieval Croatian
kingdom, and the center of
Eastern Adriatic since ancient
times.Split is an academic center, with
the University of Split being the
second-largest national academic
institution with more than 20,
000 students, 11 faculties, one
academy, and four departments.
Sports play an important role
at the university, with many
sports and recreational activities
provided for students. The city of
Split itself has hosted five EUSA
championships so far: Basketball
in 2013, Beach Volleyball, Sports
Climbing, and Basketball 3x3 in
2017, and Futsal in 2023, while
for the last twenty years, it has
hosted the International University
Rowing Regatta Sveti Duje with
the world’s most famous crews
from University of Oxford and
