062 Cycle Touring South Korea

(^34) Busan
As a ferry sailed from Busan to Japan, I searched for the Japanese
Consulate but discovered that they didn't issue visas to foreigners.
One would have to apply in your home country or have a permanent
residence card. I was not fond of changing my plans due to
circumstances beyond my control as I considered flying elsewhere
with my bicycle a hassle as it was expensive and would take a few
days to resume cycling. However, I acknowledged that the whole
situation was my fault because I didn't like planning or researching
about countries. Although surprises were a part of travelling, they
could sometimes be unpleasant. I had many options for my next
destination, but my limited passport pages made it difficult to visit
places requiring visas. Therefore, I decided that the Americas would
be the best destination, as I already had an American visa and I had
unfinished business in the USA. However, this didn't necessarily mean
I would go straight there. While it made sense to return to San
Francisco and pedal north due to the weather, it didn't necessarily
mean I would choose that option.
Busan

The next day, I cycled to Blue Backpackers, a place with better
facilities. Along the way, I found a bike shop, and my plan was to go
there the following day to get a box or bag to pack the bike. Since I
was still unsure of my destination, I decided to leave the decision
until the very last minute.
In the morning, I handed in my bicycle to be boxed. Although there
were several things that needed repairing, I chose not to fix them,
thinking it would be better to do so once I had arrived in my new
country, wherever that may be.
