Communiqué No. 3
Issued by the Palestine Liberation Organization/The United National Command of
the Uprising
O masses of the magnificent Palestinian people, O masses of the stone and the Molo-
tov cocktail, O soldiers of justice who are taking part in the uprising of our heroic
people! May your arms of steel be strengthened, O heroes, may your hands be strength-
ened, O workers and fellahin[farm workers and peasants], students, merchants, and
women... May your valiant arms be strengthened, O lion cubs of Palestine, O gen-
eration of the future, O builders of the independent Palestinian state! May your arms
be strengthened, O young commanders, the new generals of our people! Blessed be
this glorious people, which has registered the most magnificent spectacles of struggle,
this people that heeded the call to duty, the call of the PLO and of the United National
Command of the Uprising, which shook the ground from under the feet of the occu-
pation during the past week.
Salutations of pride and honor to the masses of this struggling people, salutations
of respect and admiration for the precious victims, the sacrifice in every sector of our
generous people, salutations of challenge, steadfastness and pride, salutations of the
resistance that the children of the stone and the Molotov cocktail are inscribing in the
history of our people and the contemporary revolution.
Salutations to you, descendants of al-Qassam, salutations to the spearhead that
repulses the enemy’s soldiers in the byways of the camps, villages, and towns through-
out our occupied homeland.
Salutations of the wound that triumphs over the knife of Shamir, Sharon, and
Peres and stands proudly against their war machine, their armored vehicles, their air-
planes, and their suffocating and poisonous bombs.
A thousand thousand salutations, endless honor and glory, exaltation and eternal
life to you and our people’s martyrs, heroes of the uprising, who saturate the soil of
the beloved homeland with rivers of your spilt blood, hoist the banners of freedom
and independence, and with your pure shed blood pave the way to victory and the
independent state under the leadership of the great and powerful PLO.
For the millionth time we reiterate: may your hands be strengthened, heroes, in
Sheykh Radwan, Kafr Nue‘ima, Rafah, Bittin, Jabalya, Qalqilya, in the camps, the vil-
lages, the neighborhoods, and the byways. We reaffirm our esteem and our pride in
the masses, who in an uplifted and united voice called out:
