Historical Dictionary of Israeli Intelligence

(coco) #1
Most books listed in the bibliography are in English. Only in rare instances
when no printed material exists in English are books in other languages in-
cluded. The second most common language by number of titles listed is He-
brew. Many books have been published in Israel in Hebrew on the subject, and
the most important of them are included in the bibliography. Most recently pub-
lished Hebrew books have official titles in English. Older Hebrew books do
not, and I have translated these titles into English myself. Other books listed are
in French, German, and Norwegian; the sources in the last-named language
concern the Lillehammer Affair, since this Mossad fiasco occurred in Norway.
The bibliography is divided into two main parts. The first consists of printed
material: books, journals, master’s theses, and position papers. The second part
contains Internet sources. Here several official websites are listed—of the Is-
raeli Security Agency, Military Intelligence of the Israel Defense Forces, and
the Mossad; only recently have these intelligence bodies gone online. The re-
maining Internet sites are secondary sources.
