long - 8.30 m long and 10.00 m wide - and has a vestibule of the same size, reaching
an overall size of 28.30 x 22.50 m. The walls are up to 6.10 m thick, and thus the
building was probably quite high, while the entrance to the cella was very narrow, only
1.40 m (Figure 28.4).
On the other hand, the Red Temple has a cella 11.20 m long and 9.60 m wide, while
the vestibule was definitely shorter — approximately 6.00 m long — and the overall size
reaches 24.20 m in length and 17.00 m in width, while the walls are 3.60 m thick, with
buttresses at the four corners. There is some uncertainty concerning the length of the
temple, because its remains are covered by the monumental ruins of Ishtars Temple
of Middle Bronze I—II; so, while it is larger than the later buildings, and it was possible
to identify its outer limits, the back wall is completely covered by the later walls, and
its northern limit is unknown.
