Apart from the competitions,
the participants also took part
in various workshops during
the Championships with
specialised topics helping them
better prepare both mentally
and physically while enriching
their overall experiences
at the events. The AUSF
Championships are therefore
not only a pathway to promote
sporting excellence, but also a
platform to enhance learning,
sharing and communication.
AUSF will be organising a
number of different sporting
championships across
2020, among them the first
Bodybuilding and Fitness
Championship taking place in
Pattaya, Thailand in March,
as well as the first Tchoukball
Championship, which will be
held in Singapore in July.
FISU-NUSF Seminar
As the core project of both
FISU and AUSF, the biennial 2nd
FISU-NUSF Seminar was held in
Chinese Taipei from September
20-21.
The theme of the Seminar
was “Media and Sports
Development” and attracted
over 50 participants in the field
of sports management and
media from Asia, Europe and
Oceania. The high-level Seminar
provided not only an occasion
for knowledge dissemination
and sharing, but it was also an
opportunity for networking and
experience sharing on project/
event management in the
forms of plenary sessions and
concurrent workshops.
IDUS Celebrations
During the fourth instalment of
IDUS in 2019, several NUSFs
across Asia including China,
Nepal, Singapore, Mongolia,
Iran, the Philippines and Chinese
Taipei celebrated IDUS at
various university campuses in
an effort to echo the message of
this inspiring initiative.
In addition, AUSF together with
the Chinese Taipei University
Sports Federation hosted
IDUS celebration activities
in conjunction with the first
Asian University Badminton
Championship and 2019 FISU-
NUSF Seminar. Through the
activities, the participants better
understood the philosophy,
concept and objective of IDUS
while enjoying the festive
atmosphere, with many
declaring they would bring
the ideas back to their home
countries/regions. The events
inspired many to strive to
promote university sports and
influence more people to take
up sports and adopt a healthier
lifestyle.
Bilateral Cooperation
Over 2019, ties were
strengthened between AUSF
and EUSA through regular
exchanges of visits. Such
collaborations not only improve
communication between the
federations, but also enhance
the friendship among the
member federations of AUSF
and EUSA. EUSA delegates and
EUSA members are warmly
welcome to attend the 11th
AUSF General Assembly and 3rd
FISU-AUSF Strategic Dialogue
to be held in 2020.
FISU Executive
Committee Election
Through concerted efforts of
all Asian members and the
generous support of our fellow
friends from all over the world,
eight delegates from Asia were
elected into the FISU Executive
Committee for the term 2019-
2023, including Mr Zhen Shen
from China as Vice President.
The result of the election is not
only an honour for Asia but also
a heavy responsibility, which
will inspire them to work much
harder for the development of
university sports across the
world.
