Japan is where the past and future meet, a
land of Blade Runner-esque cityscapes and
traditional 17th-century architecture. The
cultural attractions of the country’s towns
and cities are matched by striking natural
beauty, panoramic hiking trails and snow-
topped mountain ranges.
Step into the future at Tokyo’s manic
Shibuya Crossing, the city’s answer to
Times Square. Tokyo is also a paradise
for foodies, with more Michelin-starred
restaurants than any city in the world.
Host of the 1998 Winter Olympics,
Nagano is nestled among striking mountain
scenery and o ers plenty of skiing
opportunities. Visitors can admire Mount
Togakushi, which is dramatically refl ected
in the mirror surface of Lake Kagami-
ike. The city was built around Zenko-ji, a
stunning seventh-century Buddhist temple.
The traditional wooden houses and
17th-century architecture of Takayama give
visitors a taste of ancient Japan — the city
is home to ornate temples and shrines from
the Meiji era. Keen hikers, meanwhile, can
explore the tea houses and hiking trails
of the Japanese Alps, a series of mountain
ranges that bisect the island of Honshu.
Finally, stately Kyoto has historically
served as the imperial capital and is home
to more than 2,000 temples. It’s the
perfect place to check out a traditional tea
ceremony, as well as enjoy some pampering
time in an onsen (Japanese hot spring).
Flight Centre’s Japan: Capitals and
Culture itinerary lets you to experience all of
these amazing attractions and many more.
The company’s expert travel consultants can
accommodate any needs to tailor-make the
