UR INSTRUCTIONS TO OUR INSTAGRAM
followers: Grab some 2X4S and build
the coolest thing you can. Get creative.
Get crazy. Cut them into smaller sizes.
Attach them to each other. Use them
as is. Drop as much or as little money
on materials as you want. However you
used them, whatever you created, we only asked
that when you finished, you’d tag your photos so
we could see what you built.Those were the simple rules for our first #Pop-
MechChallenge, the results of which are on display
here. As a control, we had Pop Mech’s Te s t E d i t or
and resident craftsman Roy Berendsohn build
his own design, based on those same deliberately
vague instructions.
We watched our readers go to work. We surveyed
the results. Then we picked four of our favorites and
tracked down the creators, who shared their inspi-
