PETER’S NEW DATES?

Clare Crawley’s journey to find love on The Bachelorette isn’t starting

quite yet. In response to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, Warner Bros.

Television Group, which produces the hit ABC reality show, shut down

production on the series just days before filming was to begin. In a statement,

the company said, “There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any

of our productions, but the health and safety of our employees,

casts and crews remain our top priority.” After telling People on

March 1 that she was “so excited” to potentially get engaged

on the show, Crawley, 38, is taking the

postponement in stride. “We are taking it

day by day and even hour by hour as this is

so unpredictable,” she posted on Instagram

on March 13. “All I know for sure is that my

heart is so full from all the love and support

this far.... I’ve waited 38 years for these

moments, what’s a little bit longer, right?” —A. N.

Bachelorette on Hold

who first parted ways on the show

when Madison left after Peter admit-

ted he’d been intimate with at least

one other woman—appeared to have

the odds stacked against them. First,

Peter had to contend with Hannah

Ann, who challenged him to “become

a real man” for not being honest with

her about his lingering feelings for

Madison. Then Peter’s mom, Barbara

Weber, entered the picture, becom-

ing a viral sensation for her criticism

of Madison. Barbara complained

Madison kept her waiting at a family

visit and told Peter he’d have to “fail

to succeed.” Ultimately, “there were

a lot of issues,” says a show source.

“Peter and Madi were never really

back together. They just realized

they couldn’t make it work.”

A source close to Madison says she

is “saddened” by how things ended.

“She’s been having a tough time. She

really cares for Peter and wanted to

work through their challenges to see if

they could have a future together, but

it just got too difficult. It seemed like

everything was against them.” When

it comes to Barbara, who has said she

has no regrets about speaking out,

“Madi feels badly if she ever

unintentionally hurt the Weber

family. She’s just trying to stay

positive.” Peter is too. “Every-

thing he went through on The

Bachelor really hit him hard,”

says the show source. “He’s aware

that people think he made mis-

takes, and he understands. But he

never wanted to hurt anyone. And

he still has hope for the future.”
