Objective: I will compare and order sets of rational and irrational numbers.

Irrational Numbers: the set of all numbers that

cannot be written as a ratio of two integers;

cannot be written as a simple fraction because

the decimal is non-terminating and non-

repeating

   a number line.


2. Place rational number(s) on the number
   line.


3. Compare the numbers.

Directions: Place the numbers on a number line. Then compare using an inequality.

1. √ 7 , 3, 2, 2.5

Solution:

2 < 2.5 < √ 7 < 3

2. √ 23 , 4, √ 19 , 5

Solution:

4 < √ 19 < √ 23 < 5
