her current setup, here
are three ways to
get her back into it.
Put down the squeaky toy—
your cat or dog may not need
as many as you think. For dogs,
keep only a few chew toys,
plushies, and puzzles for mental
enrichment, says Haylee Heisel,
a Best Friends Animal Society

and cats may enjoy cardboard
tubes or boxes with food treats
hidden inside, adds Terri Bright,
D.V.M., a behaviorist at Angell
Animal Medical Center. Get rid
of toys your pet ignores or that
have begun to come apart, and
supervise pets so they won’t
end up ingesting pieces.
Apply the same thinking to
beds. Your pet probably needs
only a bed for sleeping and
perhaps one in a room where
you spend lots of time, says
