that the life of a magazine editor
is nothing like The Devil Wears
Prada or any other movie about
the media industry. There is one serious
perk that we enjoy, however, and if
you’re a beauty fanatic, it’s epic—the
Beauty Closet. It’s actually a room
where hundreds of skincare, makeup,
sun care, and anti-aging products live
while they’re being vetted and tested
by our editors. So when I’m fussing
over my crow’s feet or I need some
emergency mascara, I can swing by,
sample products, and find one that works
for me. Or, I just ask April. WD’s beauty
editor, April Franzino, knows pretty much
everything about products and trends
and is always ready with a brilliant tip or
two (check out two of her latest recommendations above).
This month, April and her team put together the WD Best Buy
Beauty Awards, our annual roundup of priced-right beauty
finds (page 44). They curate the products, then send them
out to be tested by WD readers across the U.S. So you get
